Ever heard of Albariño? This white grape is used to make fantastic white wine! The best expressions of albariño wines come from the Rias Baixas region of Spain. This is a little area tucked away on the northern coast of the country. The region is cooler than the rest of Spain because of the cool water currents of the northern Atlantic Ocean. These grapes are packed with flavor, the wines are crisp with acidity and minerals and a tell tale sign of an albariñ0 is the presence of lime and lime zest.
The 2019 Paco and Lola is a killer Albariño. Bright fruit flavors like pear, crisp green apple, lemon, and lime, along with some floral and fresh herbal characteristics (think basil, or shiso). The acidity is crisp and the flavors linger for a good finish. This particular wine was rated very nicely by Decanter Magazine as a 97.
A true delight.
